CITY/ONE NETWORK understands the wide range of theological, programmatic, and social distinctives among local churches today. However, CITY/ONE NETWORK helps to foster a relational unity among local church leaders around the historically and widely accepted doctrinal realities found within the ancient creeds such as the Apostles and Nicene Creeds. .

APOSTLES CREED (4th Century)
1. I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
2. And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord:
3. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary:
4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried: He descended into hell:
5. The third day he rose again from the dead:
6. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty:
7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead:
8. I believe in the Holy Ghost:
9. I believe in the holy catholic church: the communion of saints:
10. The forgiveness of sins:
1l. The resurrection of the body:
12. And the life everlasting. Amen.

NICENE CREED (325 AD)
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

St. Augustine probably (and most likely) said it best when he said, "In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love."

We like that.

CHRISTIAN UNITY, THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH, IS A RELATIONAL UNITY OF A PARTICULAR PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME TO SHARE A COMMON FAITH IN SOME DOCTRINAL REALITIES." - REX KOIVISTO
