1 // WHAT IS CITY/ONE NETWORK?
CITY/ONE NETWORK is a 501c3 non-profit organization that empowers local churches in cities across the nation to reach 20-30somethings together for Christ and connect them to a local church.
2 // WHAT DOES CITY/ONE NETWORK DO?
CITY/ONE NETWORK empowers and equips local churches by providing them with a collaborative outreach model in order to reach 20-30somethings for Christ and connect them to a local church. CITY/ONE NETWORK also provides education, resources and best practices in regards to unity in Christ's mission and ministry to this demographic.
3 // IS CITY/ONE NETWORK A CHURCH PLANTING NETWORK?
No. CITY/ONE NETWORK does not plant individual local churches nor does CITY/ONE NETWORK or any affiliate city seek to duplicate the various aspects of a local church or start new churches. CITY/ONE NETWORK ensures this by the governance of a national board of directors.
4 // WHAT MAKES EACH CITYONE NETWORK AFFILIATE NOT A CHURCH?
Each local affiliate is established as it's own 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is not governed or structured like a New Testament church in that they do not have pastors, elders, overseers or deacons. Secondly, each local affiliate does not administer the sacraments/ordinances of the church, neither do they baptize individuals into the Church nor into a particular faith community. Further, each local affiliate is strategically limited in that they do not offer small groups, discipleship opportunities, or ongoing mission opportunities. Each local affiliate serves as a specific outreach arm of many local churches in an area to reach 20-30somethings for Christ and connect them to a local church.
5 // HOW DO CITY/ONE NETWORK AFFILIATES CONNECT 20-30 SOMETHINGS TO LOCAL CHURCHES?
CITY/ONE NETWORK affiliates connect 20-30somethings to local churches by providing the following informational and relational engagement opportunities:
1. Highlight all partner churches on each local affiliates website.
2. Display partner churches promotional materials at a designated place at each outreach gathering.
3. Offer a bi-annual partner church fair to expose 20-30somethings to each partner church.
4. Encourage partner churches to build personal relationships with unchurched and dechurched 20-30somethings at each outreach gathering.
5. Develop a volunteer connecting team that facilitates connections between 20-30somethings and local churches.
6 // IS CITY/ONE NETWORK ASSOCIATED WITH ONE PARTICULAR CHURCH OR DENOMINATION?
No. CITY/ONE NETWORK is not associated or funded by one particular church, group of churches, ministry group or denomination.
7 // HOW DOES CITY/ONE NETWORK ADDRESS THE THEOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES AMONG LOCAL CHURCHES?
While CITY/ONE NETWORK deeply values the rich traditions and denominational distinctions among the body of Christ, we seek to facilitate collaboration among local churches around the historically accepted doctrinal realities found within the ancient creeds such as the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.
8 // HOW DOES CITY/ONE NETWORK ADDRESS THE PROGRAMMATIC DIFFERENCES AMONG LOCAL CHURCHES?
CITY/ONE NETWORK is cognizant of the different expressions of Christian worship and preaching found within the body of Christ. Therefore, CITY/ONE NETWORK seeks to facilitate and provide both in a manner that does not alienate or create confusion among the wider Christian community or those outside the Christian faith as set forth in 1 Corinthians 14.
9 // WHY DO LOCAL CHURCHES NEED A COLLABORATIVE OUTREACH TO 20-30 SOMETHINGS? WHY NOT JUST LET ONE PARTICULAR CHURCH LEAD THE WAY?
20-30somethings represent the most unreached demographic in the majority of cities today. Therefore, it became evident to leaders around the country that the current state of ministry to 20-30somethings had become inadequate to address the growing spiritual needs of millions of young professionals Therefore, the growing need among this demographic is too great for one particular church to solve in any given area. By collaborating, local churches can provide a more effective outreach tool to reach 20s and 30s for Christ and the local church.
10 // WHO IS LEADING (AND OR) ENDORSING CITY/ONE NETWORK? ANYONE I CAN TRUST?
CITY/ONE NETWORK is led by a national board of directors consisting of national leaders and pastors. CITY/ONE NETWORK has been endorsed by national leaders such as: Louie Giglio, Leighton Ford, Kevin Palau and The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
11 // WHAT DOES THIS "COLLABORATIVE OUTREACH SERVICE" LOOK LIKE?
Local church leaders in each area tailors the shared outreach service to reflect the culture and needs that are represented in their particular city. However, common themes include: God-honoring worship through music/song, Biblical teaching/preaching, and a time of connecting with one another and local churches afterward.
